Most conflicts can be resolved by just sitting down with the other party and spending some time discussing the issues and what it means to them.  Unfortunately, this can be difficult without a trained mediator to help each party understand not only the points that are in contention, but also the underlying issues that must be understood and resolved.  All too often, conflicts are allowed to simmer for years literally creating emotional damage to both parties.  In the extreme, they end up in court creating a huge expense, even greater emotional harm, and wasted time.
